✦ Synopsis
Food experiments have been conducted from remotest antiquity, but perhaps not with all the scientific accuracy which characterizes the experimental work of modern times. The first recorded food experiment which I have been able to find is described in the Book of Daniel, first chapter, twelfth verse and following.
When Daniel was brought into the royal household of the King of Babylon he was required to eat the food prepared for the King and the court. This the prophet was not willing to do.
