β¦ Synopsis
Singular perturbation problems are of common occurrence in all branches of applied mathematics and engineering. These problems are encountered in various fields such as solid mechanics, fluid dynamics, quantum mechanics, optimal control, chemical reactor theory, aerodynamics, reaction-diffusion processes, geophysics etc. In this paper, the basic methods and literature for solving the singular perturbation problems have been presented with their comparative study.

Until now, the best way to construct high order uniformly convergent schemes for singular perturbation problems was to apply exponentially fitted compact difference schemes. We propose the following approach: firstly solve an auxiliary problem with piecewise or nearly piecewise constant coefficients
In this paper, the variational iteration method (VIM) is used to study a nonlinear singular boundary value problems arising in various physical equations. The VIM overcomes the singularity issue at the origin x = 0. The Lagrange multipliers for all four cases of the boundary value problems are forma
