Abstract
This paper presents the results of measuring relative local target cross sections. The method for calculating the target cross section in the optical band (OCS) on the basis of an experimentally obtained data of a real target is clarified. As an example, the calculation of the OCS of T‐72 tank illuminated by laser beam with a divergence of 1 mrad and a wavelength of 1060 nm is shown. The values of the OCS were calculated for various range levels so that the range dependence of OCS could be presented graphically. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
