✦ Synopsis

Ring closing metathesis of N,N~diallylanilines and a related 1,2-dihydroquinoline, catalysed by Grubbs' catalyst, occurs in good yield at room temperature furnishing 3-pyrrolines and 3piperidines. DCM and EtOAc are the solvents of choice and interesting substituent effects are identified and discussed.
