✦ Synopsis

Abstract

In this article, we discuss various requirements of antenna design for passive radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, we outline a generic design process and show how RFID tags loaded with a metamaterial slab are able to increase the read range and to decouple the tag with the tagged objects. ## Abstract A novel compact microstrip antenna is presented for tri‐band RFID applications. The antenna consisting of a monopole like bent arm with a capacitively coupled small patch, printed on the alternative side of the ground plane, which might be common for multi‐layer reader circuitry. By adju
