Precipitation and adsorption of metal-surfactant on mineral surfaces control response in a large number of flotation systems. Systems comprising the four general mineral classifications are reviewed in this article. Conditions under which precipitation and adsorption occur are presented, and mechanisms of precipitate adsorption are discussed.
