The high temperature strength and internal crack susceptibility of a high Mnβsteel grade, X50MnAl 25 1 has been compared to that of a HSSS steel and that of two low carbon steels. High strength and crack susceptibility are supposed to be limiting factors in casting highβMn steels on conventional continuous casting machines.
