✦ Synopsis

Abstract

The 1:1‐metal complexes of ciscis‐1,3,5‐triamino cyclohexane (denoted by B) have been investigated. Cu^II^, Zn^II^ and Ag^I^ are forming a protonated complex of composition MHB^3+^ and AgHB^2+^ respectively, and their stability shows them to be chelates with the cyclohexane ring in the boat form. At higher pH‐values deprotonation to MB^2+^, AgB^+^ takes place. With silver a bimetallic complex Ag~2~B^2+^ is also formed. Complex formation with Ni^2+^, Co^2+^ and Cd^2+^ at equimolecular concentrations of 10^−3^ M is negligible.

The proton spectrum of the isomeric mixture of &,cis-and cis,trans-1,3,5-triamino~clohexane was assigned with a 2D COSY experiment. Using Forrest's modified equation and the 2D J spectrum results, the conformations of the two isomers were analysed. The six-membered ring of the cis, trans isomer is fl
