✦ Synopsis
Lab. studies of the effects of H,S (a potential passivating agent: ZnS solubility product = 6.6 Xr10-2i) in waters contg.NaC1 (activating agent) on the anodic behaviour of T s P l sacrificial Zn anodes as used in tanks and storage vessels a r e reported. In NaCl solutions contg. H,S 50-200 mg/l the anodic activity i s insignificantly reduced but the output efficiency i s lowered from 90 to 76% a s the H,S content i s increased from 50 to 200 mg/l. In general, such anodes perform effectively in solutions contg. NaCl 0.5-20% and H,S 0-200 mg/l but trials in service conditions a r e recommended to determine the working characteristics. 7 ref.
