โฆ Synopsis
The December 1986 issue of the Annals of Neurology marked the completion of Volume 20, and hence the tenth anniversary of the journal. Salutations are in order for the Founding Editor, Dr Fred Plum, who guided the journal unerringly through its first eight years. It is also well to recognize the others who played key roles in initiating the Annals, namely our sister association, the Child Neurology Society, Mr Fred Belliveau of Little, Brown and Company, and Dr Samuel Trufant, then President of the American Neurological Association.
Other matters should also be brought to attention. In this issue, new Instructions for Authors are set forth. Authors planning to submit manuscripts are requested to read these carefully. A number of changes have been made. One of these is the plan to convert to the Systeme International (SI) units of metrication. This is in accord with the policies of the American National Metric Council and its Professional Journals Sector. For the calendar year 1987, the Annals of Neurology requests that all manuscript submissions use the previously accepted metric units, with the appropriate SI units given in parentheses. As of January 1988, all articles, reviews, and letters will be printed in the Annals in similar fashion. At a subsequent time, probably January 1989, all metrication will be printed in SI units exclusively. Both readers and prospective authors are urged to consult the January 1987 issue of the Annals of Internal Medzcine for conversion tables and to read the accompanying article by D r D. S.
Young.
The Annals of Neurology is now available online in full text through two computer-based medical information services.
