He obtained his PhD in Pharmacology at the University of Rhode Island in 1971 where he studied glucocorticoid regulation of collagen synthesis. His postdoctoral training was at Baylor College of Medicine where he investigated the biochemical mechanisms of P450-arylhydrocarbon hydroxylase induction. In 1971 he joined the faculty of the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology at the Medical College of Georgia. For the past 31 years, Dr. Cutroneo has been a professor in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Vermont College of Medicine.
