Abstract
A liquid ion exchanger membrane electrode responding preferentially to large onium ions is described. Selectivities of the sensor for different cations vary by factors of up to 10^14^ and the selectivity constants correlate closely with the corresponding exchange constants of the extracation system involved. For most cations the electrode shows theoretical response at activities >10^−6^M and has a life time of at least 4 months.
