โฆ Synopsis
Depending on the quality of the feed water and the mode of operation, chemical cleaning/restoration of reverse osmosis membranes is needed. At the Doha Reverse Osmosis Plant of Kuwait (DROP), conventional pretreated surface seawater is used to feed three membrane configuration systems which have been running satisfactorily for more than two years. During this period, many cleaning and restoration procedures were carried out. some were successful and some failed to give satisfactory results. This paper describes the cleaning cycles, the performance restoration of fouled membranes, chemicals, and procedures during the first 30 months of operation.
