Observations
have been made of transitions in the S to 8 pm region of the infrared from emissions from a recombinmg oxygen plasma. Assignments have been made for transitions in this region usmg experimental and calculated energy level positions. The strongest feature occurs at 7.45 pm and is assigned as a composite line dominated by 6h3~5H-5g".5G and 6g '.'G-5f 335F at 7.450 and 7.426 gm respectively. This IS the first experimental observation of the oxygen atom 6h3.' H state.
