β¦ Synopsis
Neo-pragmatic thinking aims at a close and dynamic connection between theory and practice. A systematic Neo-pragmatism 2 can be linked, on the one hand, to the results of Analytic Philosophy; on the other hand, it examines knowledge by concentrating on the active and operative, that is, the realizing aspect of knowledge. Seen from this standpoint, knowledge structures are models which do not only represent reality but, at the same time, are reality and create a new reality. However, in systematic Neo-pragmatism the basic maxim is that any creation of a new reality demands the explicit formulation of purposes and goals. Especially medicine, as a form of decision and action theory, is characterized by this planned intentionality.
