✦ Synopsis
It is shown that at illumina ta! n-MO& and n-WScz electrodes the charge transfer of a hole from the crystal valence baud to certain redox ions in solution is cataiyzed by a [Ru(bipy),CI poly(4+inylpyridine)]Cl covering layer attached at the crystal surface. The coating behaves like a solid redox system taking over the holes from the crystal valence band and passing them to the electrolyte. The oxidized polymer can inicct holes into the valence band of the crystal. Possible applications of this and similar surface coatings
