✦ Synopsis

An attempt is made to partition the total energy loss away from the crack tip into various phenomenons occurring during the fracture and in the post arrest period. The study involves a modified compact tension specimen fabricated from Homalite 100. The results obtained indicate that energy is lost during all thiee phases of crack propagation, namely initiation, propagation and arrest.
