β¦ Synopsis
Oxidation of the Fe n chelates [FeL l (L = phen or bipy) by Cr w and Mn TM in H2SO 4 medium was found to proceed through the formation of a bimetallic insertion complex which decomposes in the slow step, followed by electron transfer from [FeLl to the oxidant. The reactions are catalysed by both anionic and non-ionic micelles [SDS and triton-x (Tx), respectively]. A mechanism is suggested involving electrostatic stabilization of the cationic forms of the Fe" chelates by anionic SDS and the partial anionic character of polyoxyethylene moiety of Tx, respectively. The marginal catalysis of cationic micelles (CTAB) is attributed to co-anion-micellar interactions.

The kinetics of oxidation of ethanol by cerium(1V) in presence of ruthenium(II1) (in the order of mol dm-3) in aqueous sulfuric acid media have been followed at different temperatures (25-40Β°C). The rate of disappearance of cerium(1V) in the title reaction increases sharply with increasing [CzH50H]
## Abstract The oxidation of Dβmannitol by cerium(IV) has been studied spectrophotometrically in aqueous sulfuric acid medium at 25Β°C at constant ionic strength of 1.60 mol dm^β3^. A microamount of ruthenium(III) (10^β6^ mol dm^β3^) is sufficient to enhance the slow reaction between Dβmannitol and
