The narrow joint faces possible with LEM gaskets enable more compact, lighter designs to be used throughout the power train, for the next generation of engines, transmissions and axles, contributing to reduced overall vehicle weight and CO 2 emissions at a lower cost than conventional gaskets.

'The cumulative benefits of improved gasket technology can be substantial,' concluded Chochoy. 'It is one of those important enablers that make other developments much more practical.

Building integrated photovoltaic (BiPV) systems generate electricity, but also heat, which is typically wasted and also reduces the efficiency of generation. A heat recovery unit can be combined with a BiPV system to take advantage of this waste heat, thus providing cogeneration. Two different photo
