โœฆ Synopsis

New models have been developed relating the modulus of vulcanizates and volume fraction of filler. The models take into account the shape of filler particles and the modulus of the interphase. The usefulness of these models has been verified by determination of dynamic modulus for a series of vulcanizates. The new models have been compared with the well known models of Guth, Takayanagi, Sato and Furukawa.

The addition of fillers can significantly change the mechanical characteristics of a material. In this paper, a general, mechanistic model is established to determine the moduli, relaxation moduli, break strengths, and break strains for polymer films containing liquid and solid micro fillers. Based
