## Abstract The chemical modification of oil palm empty fruit bunches (EFB) using non‐catalysed reaction with acetic, propionic and succinic anhydrides were investigated. Proof of modification was indicated by the increase of weight and was confirmed by Fourier‐transform infrared analysis (FT‐IR).
