โœฆ Synopsis

We describe a numerical method for measuring topological charge in SU(N) lattice gauge theories, and we outline the implementation of this method on a CDC CYBER 205. We estimate the CPU requirements of a usefully accurate calculation of the low and high temperature properties of the SU(3) topological susceptibility, x 1. which controls the mass splitting between the ~' particle and the pseudoscalar octet of Goldstone bosons.
