From exact non᎐Born᎐Oppenheimer simulations of dissociative q Ž 15 2 . Ž . ionization of H in an intense I ) 10 Wrcm , ultrashort laser pulse -5 fs , we 2 p < Ž .< 2 show that it is possible to measure the probability distribution R of some initial v vibrational state v through the inversion of the kinetic energy spectrum of the laserinduced Coulomb explosion. The theory of the inversion method is presented and its Ž . application to laser-induced Coulomb explosion imaging LCEI of time-dependent wave packets is demonstrated through numerical simulation.
