This book, Measuring and Assessing Organizations, is written for organizational reseaichers, consultants, and practitioners who diagnose, evaJuate, and take action to solve problems in the design md performance of organizations It is concerned with the development of a scientifically valid and practical approach for assessing the performance of a complex organization in relation to how it is organized and to the environments in which it operates. It is based on the results of a longitudinal research program called Organization Assessment (QA), which has been in progress since 1972. This book describes, evaluates, and proposes a revised framework, a set of measurement instruments, and a process for conducting ongoing assessments of complex organizations.
