โฆ Synopsis
Calorimetric experiments were performed on thallium in connection with the transition, in a constant magnetic field, from the supraconductive to the non-supraconductive state. A definite latent heat was measured. The values found were compared with thermodynamic theory. From the experimental data a proof is deduced that in passing the magnetic threshold value no irreversible entropy change occurs. A suggestion was made as to the behaviour of the lines of magnetic force in a (partly) supraconductive body when temperature is being changed.

The results of experiments with a new apparatus led us to conclude that the transition from the normal to the superconductive state in a constant external magnetic field is also accompanied by a relaxation. In ยง 4 we give a survey of the conclusions drawn from the whole of our relaxation experiments
