β¦ Synopsis
The project to construct and investigate a superconducting LINAC called ALPI 1 at the Laboratori Nazionali di Legnaro has been approved. It includes the construction of 93 superconducting cavities of the quarter wave type with lead, which has a critical temperature of 7.2 K, as the superconductor. In the following research note a technique using vacuum brazing to joint different parts of the resonator is described, together with the measurements of thermal conductivity of the material used between the copper.
