## Abstract An active strain sensing system based on single‐longitudinal‐mode distributed Bragg reflector fiber laser is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. Owing to the short laser cavity length and birefringence‐induced mode splitting, the proposed laser in single‐longitudinal‐mode operatio
