Conclusions
In this letter, the scattering by a multilayer elliptic cylinder has been solved in the case of a line-current illumination. The field quantities, expressed as series of eigenfunctions in each layer, are computed by an extension of a previously developed recursive procedure for the plane-wave scattering. As mentioned in the Introduction, the line-source scattering by a multilayer elliptic cylinder can be considered as an important canonical problem of sufficient complexity to represent a good test case for the assessment of numerical procedures developed for the solution of a number of direct and inverse problems encountered in the research activity of the electromagnetic community.
