β¦ Synopsis
This paper gives the measured values of the sound pressure level (Llo) resulting from traffic noise measurements over periods of 1 h and 18 h. These measurements were done daily over long and difficult periods, and at different periods and at different locations, in the greater Amman (Jordan) area. Measured values are presented versus the numbers of vehicles accounted for at the time of measurement. Comparisons between calculated and measured levels for both Amman and other cities are given. Annoyance, from the traffic noise, to the people living around the measurement sites is given in a percentage form.

The investigation comprised "eld measurements of road tra$c noise at over 60 sites in 8 cities in South-Eastern Nigeria and psychological survey, by questionnaires, of respondents living and working close to the sites. Instantaneous and 24 h noise measurements were made at the noisiest points, near
## Abstract Data of the rainy seasons from 1956/1957 to 2005/2006 for 11 stations distributed over Amman area were analyzed. They were used to estimate the areal rainfall amount in Amman area; the annual data have a normal distribution with an average of 283.7 mm. The areal rainfall amounts varied
## Abstract Metallic content (Cr, Fe, Mn, Cu, Ni, Pb and Cd) of street sediments and street runoff in addition to major inorganic constituents (Ca, Mg, Na, K, HCO~3~, Cl, NO~3~ and SO~4~) of street runoff were determined under semiβarid conditions. Two sites in the vicinity of Amman during the pluv
Traffic noise and social surveys were carried out at eight London suburban sites. Dwellings at the selected sites were exposed to noise from freely flowing traffic at levels which ranged from 57 to 82 dB(A), measured as 18 hour Llo. The study was designed to obtain noise measurements and subjective
