✦ Synopsis

Transverse spin transport is measured in a 0.1% 'He-'He mixture polarized by an 8T magnetic field Spin diffusion as well as spin rotation effects are observed by exciting spin-wave modes in a small spherical cavity. A preliminary analysis of the data shows that the spin-rotation parameter Q,,,r* increases continuously as the temperature is lowered through the degeneracy temperature TF. This appears to resolve a long-standing disagreement between theory and earlier experiments.

We have used pulsed NMR to investigate longitudinal spin diffusion in a dilute (350 ppm) solution of 3He in 4He at temperatures between 100 and 4 mI<. The design of our experiment allows us to measure Dll independently of DI. Our preliminary results are in good agreement with theoretical calculation
