✦ Synopsis

The product of the K-capture probability, P,, and the K-shell fluorescence yield, wK of copper, P,o,, in the decay of 65Zn was measured to be 0.398 f 0.002. A gas-flow proportional counter was used to measure the x-rays and a NaI(T1) detector to measure the y-rays. Paw, was derived from the coincidences between x-and y-rays. From the measured value of PKoK and the theoretical K-capture probability P, = 0.880 f 0.002, the K-shell fluorescence yield wK = 0.452 f 0.003 for copper is deduced.
