✦ Synopsis

a change from a high to a lower energy level and it may take from seconds to some hours. Such a cross-reference system is all for the best-it shows the care taken and it allows each definition to be as precise as possible.

Clearly, we are running out of symbols: there are, for example, eight p's, although four have suffixes, six T's, three o's, etc.,-and these are only for spectrometry.

New methods of spectrometry keep cropping up and memories become somewhat rusty. This dictionary will tell the non-specialist what DSS is used for, and what Relaxation and the Nuclear g factor really are. I t will recall to mind many things which are only partly and perhaps not accurately remembered. This 84" x 6" hard-cover book of 161 pages is not for reading in bed (I've tried it), but it is very worthwhile to have to hand such a concise, authoritative dictionary.
