β¦ Synopsis
A new method for the measurement of concentrations of Shydroxytryptophan (5HTP) in plasma is described. This method, which uses high-performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection, was used to measure SHTP in plasma of patients with the carcinoid syndrome, and also in the plasma of rats after injection of SHTP (30 mg/kg). A significant proportion of SHTP was bound to macromolecules in plasma both in the rats and in the patients.
