✦ Synopsis


The, CPLEA1R experiment at. CEIR, N measures the time dependent decay rate asymmetries of initially pure t( ° and ~o states to study CP,T and CPT symmetries in the neutral kaon system. The latest results on ~+ , Am and x are reported, as well as direct tests of T violation and CPT violation in K°-~ oscillations. Our results are consistent with CPT invariance and allow for an improved limit on the K°-K ° mass difference. Further, a possible loss of quantum coherence of the neutral kaon system has been tested to a level near the Planck scale.

!. INTRODUCTION

The CPLEAR experiment [l] investigates CP, T and CPT symmetries in the neutral kaon system. Unlike previous experiments which have used KL and Ks beams to investigate CP violation in various channels[2] (e.g.~r+rr -, rr+rr-rc°,~r%r °) CPLEAR uses initially pure K ° and ~o states. The expression for the entropy production in the decay of a neutral kaon interacting with a thermal bath of bosom, introduced in a previous article [l], is reformulated without assuming CPT conservation. The relation between the sign of Re E and the thermodynamical arrow of time is further discussed
