✦ Synopsis


Laser photolysis of chlorine-containing molecules at 1= 248 and 3 5 I nm has been performed using time-resolved laser magnetic resonance to detect Cl(2P,,2) and Cl(2P312) chlorine atoms. Relative yields of spin-orbit excited chlorine atoms, /J'= ~~~~z~,,,~l/~I~~~2~,,,~l+~~~~z~,,~~lJ, h ave been measured for the photodissoclation of NOCl (A=351 nm), NOCI (248 nm), ICI (248 nm), PCll (248 nm), Cl,0 (248 nm), COCll(248 nm) yielding the following values respectively: 9Oi IO, 88k 12, 67&5,44&3, 18k3, <Y/o.
