✦ Synopsis


The ratio of the mean square amplitude of thermal vibrations and the square of the interionic separation at the melting temperature has been determined for a number of cubic metals using the Chdveau model for the uhonon spectrum. It is fount' that the ratio varies with the metal inversely as the cube root of the atomic mass.
