✦ Synopsis

Secondary and tertiary benzylic alcohols are reduced conveniently to the corresponding aryl alkanes by using Me3SiC1-NaI-CH3CN reagent in hexane. The reaction was successfully applied to a short step synthesis of (+)-arturmerone.
