McDonald's develops, licenses, leases and services a worldwide system of restaurants in more than 100 countries. Co.'s menu includes hamburgers, cheeseburgers, the Big Mac, Quarter Pounder with Cheese, Big N'Tasty, Filet‐O‐Fish, Chicken McNuggets, several chicken sandwiches, french fries, salads, milk shakes, McFlurry desserts, ice cream sundaes and cones, pies, cookies and beverages. As of Dec 31 2003, there were approximately 18,000 units operated by franchisees, more than 8,000 units operated by Co., and about 4,000 units operated by affiliates. The Company also operates Boston Market and Chipotle Mexican Grill in the U.S. and has a minority ownership interest in U.K.‐based Pret A Manger.
