✦ Synopsis
The magnetic circular dichrokm (MCD) spectra of azulene and naphthalene, twc possible isomeric conjugated hydrocarbons with ten n-electrons around the bicyclic urban core, show Faraday B terms for all the abarption bands in the visible znd ultraviolet spectral regions. Spectral features of the molecules as a whole and experimental B/D values extracted from the spectra reflect the resemblance of their electronic structures.

Transition energies and oscil!ator strengths were calculated for the singlet and triplet states of azulene and naphthalene within the CNDC/2 CI framework. The calculated phosphorescent radiation lifetimes for naphthalene and azulene are 14 seconds and 260 seconds. respectively.
