we are inclined to suppose that maximum II is connected with the knocking out of electrons by mesons and that maximum III is connected with the production of meson showers.

By the correction we saw that P r i e b s c h 11) mentioned two maxima, found in the shower curve, one under 17 cm and one under 25 cm. Pb. in his experiments on the Hafelear.
