✦ Synopsis

Systems of the type αΉ‘ = K sgn(s), s ∈ R m , where sgn(β€’) is the vector sign function, usually determine the realizability of sliding modes in control systems with high-frequency gain K. A new condition on K is established for the global stability of this system using a nonsmooth Liapunov function. This condition is used to establish necessary and su cient stability conditions for second-order systems.

In the experimental analysis of beams and plates the realization of classical boundary conditions is one of the crucial prerequisites which governs the accuracy and reliability of the results obtained. Reachability and realizability of discrete-time linear systems, in which the state variable and the input are constrained to lie in the positive orthant R ~\_, are studied. More precisely, a characterization of positive reachability is given in terms of certain geometrical conditions on the reachabi

The purpose of the present letter is twofold: first to congratulate the authors for their important and interesting study [1] and, second, to present some additional considerations in the case of rectangular plates with clamped edges. For the sake of simplicity consider a plate with two opposite cl
