✦ Synopsis
A solution of the thermal problem in random conditions is presented. The heat ¯ow is formulated in terms of ®nite elements. The theoretical formulation is described which presents probabilistic distributions for temperature, taking into account random initial and boundary conditions as well as thermal properties of material. An example of the thermal analysis is demonstrated.

and to indicate potential control difficulties. A similar analysis (Tung and Edgar, 1979) for a fluid catalytic cracker has also highlighted potential difficulties with single loop control. Therefore the dynamic RGA usefully augments the information provided by d static RGA. The analysis can be impl
Algebraic matrix Riccati equations are considered which arise in the optimal filtering as well as in control problems of continuous time-invariant systems. A necessary and sufficient condition is established for the existence of unique positivedefinite solutions and the asymptotically stable closed-
