To optimise the circulating fluidized bed coal combustion (CFBC) with sorbent addition and make predictions about the eombustor behaviour in a broad range of operating conditions it is necessary to make a mathematical model of the process. This model was developed integrating hydrodynamic and sulpha

✦ Synopsis
The processes in a fluidized-bed combustor are analysed, and equations are written to express the absorption rate of sulphur dioxide by limestone in admixture with the fuel feed. The procedure adopted for solution of the equations is described, and some of the results predicted by the model are briefly referred to, with comparisons between the predicted and measured retentions for two coal-fired combustors. These are in good agreement for a dolomite and a reactive limestone; but for a second, less reactive, limestone the predicted retentions are too low, and possible reasons for this are suggested.

A model of coal combustion dynamics in a fluidized bed is developed in this study. The model is carried out on the premise that the total combustion response can be decomposed into two distinct processes: volatile combustion and char combustion. In this investigation, combustion dynamics are examine
