Global Energies developing isobutene from glucose
Global Energies has completed proof of concept for a process to transform renewable raw materials into gaseous isobutene. It now plans to develop processes for ethylene and propylene. The firm has produced a prototype for a fermentation process using glucose as raw material. Global Energies has submitted 6 patent applications since 2008. It is now focusing on improving yields with a pilot unit scheduled for 2011 or 2012 and a commercial unit by 2015. Global has new research facilities at the Genopole site at Evry, France.
