## Abstract Usage of a dielectric multilayer around a dielectric sample is studied as a means for improving the efficiency in multimode microwave‐heating cavities. The results show that by using additional dielectric constant layers the appearance of undesired reflections at the sample‐air interfac

Abstract
In this paper, a matched load termination of a finite‐length line is used to represent an infinite feedline structure in FDTD simulations. A generator with an internal resistor—which is matched to the input port—is employed to excite the feedline, with a view to achieving a low reflection at the truncation point. A patch antenna, whose feedline is truncated in this manner, is used as an example to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed technique. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
