The mass-to-charge ratios and relative abundances of characteristic ions are listed in Table 1, and the complete mass spectrum of compound 1 is shown in Fig. 1.
The following characteristic ions are found in the spectra. Ion a, [MI+', [C,H,CH(C2H,)C0OH]", m / z 1 4 4 + 14n. A steady increase in peak intensity can be observed with increasing n, previously reported for large esters,' except for the branched alkyl group in compoynd 4.
