✦ Synopsis
This contribution gives an important information about the new designation ªMartens Hardness HMº for the ªHardness under test forceº (former designation ªUniversal Hardness HUº). This decision was unanimously approved by the responsible standards comittee ISO/TC 164/SC 3 ªHardness Testing of Metalsº during its Meeting on 20/21 June 2000 in Berlin. The hints for using the name ªMartensº are also described.
