โœฆ Synopsis

GE Water develops core facility for membranes in Minnesota

G E Water is creating a world-class Center of Excellence (COE) for the manufacture of reverse osmosis, nanofiltration and ultrafiltration spiralwound membranes at its Minnetonka, Minnesota facility in the US.

The Minnetonka COE will integrate technology development, manufacturing capacity and quality control for membrane production, all under one roof.

GE is expanding and upgrading the equipment in the Minnetonka plant to meet demand for improved membrane quality and reduced manufacturing costs. Last year GE moved its element auto-winder from Watertown, Massachusetts to Minnetonka as part of its overall strategy to build a COE to supply high rejection seawater and brackish membranes. That equipment has been upgraded and is currently operating at the Minnetonka plant.

GE is also planning to relocate and integrate its Vista, California-based dairy and industrial process membrane capabilities to the Minnetonka site.
