lntroduc tion
The telephone is a rapidly expanding technology in modern society as a result of technological advances and convenience of use. Health care organizations are establishing telephone services to provide general health care information, offer referrals for persons seeking a physiaan, give treatment authorizations, provide advice about symptoms, and reduce unnecessary visits. As a result, the telephone is becoming a major vehicle for making medical diagnoses, dispensing self-care recommendations, recommending treatments, giving test results, and offering reassurance.
