✦ Synopsis
Excellence in the organisation and management of a large multi disciplinary design and construct project such as the Zero Discharge Water Supply and Treatment Scheme for Mount Piper Power Station was essential to its successful execution. This is a facet of a project, which is as fundamental to its success as is the process design and equipment selection, but is seldom dealt with in conferences such as this. We thought delegates would find it of interest if we shared our experience in this area.
This paper discusses the Management philosophies and strategies of Pacific Power and Transfield-PWT Asia/Pacific that resulted in this project being completed to the satisfaction of the client in the minimum time without delays and cost increases caused by interfaces between the parties. It highlights the advantages of contract packaging and placing the total responsibility for the performance and integration of a complex project system on one organisation.
